04/21/2013 - College PREP - Tacoma (Seattle), WA Annika is a talented young two way player with a lot of potential on both sides of the ball. In the circle, she uses a short arm swing with a rushed tempo but maintains level shoulders and in line direction through a sound finish. She is a good young pitcher and needs to continue to work on pitching to the outside part of the plate as she already displays comfort throwing inside, and should consider increasing the size and speed of her arm circle while being more explosive with her leg drive. As a 3B, she has quick reactions off the bat, is an accurate thrower and makes good lead throws on double play balls. She will benefit from playing lower, adding a pre-pitch prep step and following her throws with her feet to increase carry and improve flight. At the plate, Annika uses a square set up with no load, a short stride and keeps her weight centered before launching her level swing through the zone. She makes hard contact and will have better power production if she uses her lower half more aggressively to help improve her bat speed and explosiveness through the zone. Overall, Annika has a world of talent and is certainly a player to follow; continuing to work hard, seeking quality instruction and having fun should be on her short list of thing to focus on for softball.
