08/02/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Anchorage, AK Athena is a 2025 two-way player as a C/1B. In the box, Athena is a RHH that uses a square stance with a short stride and centered balance. She has a line drive approach and is able to consistently put the ball in play. Working to stay inside the ball and extending through contact will allow her to see an increase in her line drive production. Behind the plate, Athena has a good presence and low stance. She presents a good target, looks the ball into her glove and works to frame the zone. She reads the ball in the dirt and works to get down for the block. Working to make a quicker transfer and getting line with her target will allow her to get more momentum behind her throw. At 1B, Athena handles the routine play. She has active footwork in her approach and moves well to her backhand. She gets in line with her target and makes accurate throws. Working to stay low through the ball will allow her to generate more momentum to her target. Overall, Athena is a young player that will continue to improve with good coaching.
