04/24/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - York, PA Devyn is a talented 2025 Catcher/3B who attended the Softball Factory Event in York, PA. Catching wise, she tracks the ball well into her glove, has a clean exchange/transfer, and makes accurate throws. At 3B, she has quick footwork, is smooth on backhands, and has strong double play feeds, and fields the ball out in front. Hitting wise, she is balanced, is a line driver hitter, and barrels the ball up well! Overall, Devyn is a very talented and coachable athlete, and someone our coaching staff always enjoys working with!
08/10/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Frederick, MD Devyn continues to show improvements in her softball abilities and has a promising future on the field. Behind the dish, she presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. She uses her body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner and improve her lateral movements. Pop times have improved as he she threw her lowest time to date at 1.97. Times will continue to drop as she builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 3B, she displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as she works around balls and plays through with her body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through a squared, athletic setup. Hands are quick (65 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. She shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with the ball jumping off the bat when centered.
01/17/2020 - 2020 Softball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Devyn Johnson is a 2025 right-handed catcher with a developed skill set. Behind the plate, Devyn has a great presence and controlled movements. She has quick feet and good range to both sides. She is athletic in her catching position and frames each pitch with firm hands and good timing. She is able to smother when blocking and keeps every ball in front of her. Offensively, she has an athletic setup and soft stride to the ball. She has an aggressive mindset and composed presence in the box. She has controlled movements and has natural power when making contact. Overall, Devyn is an athlete with great attitude, is coachable, and makes adjustments quickly.
05/30/2019 - Softball Factory College World Series - Futures Select Training Devyn returns to another Softball Factory event displaying her great work ethic and love for the game. Behind the plate, she is relaxed and stays athletic through her movements. She works hard for her pitchers and is smooth in her footwork. She has a quick release on her throws to bases and creates good momentum through each play. She makes accurate throws to second base and tracks the ball well into the strike zone when receiving the ball. At third base, she can get on her heels at times which cuts off her range but if she can focus on playing on the balls of her feet and moving through the ball she will create more range laterally for herself. She displays strength behind her throws across the diamond and makes routine plays. Offensively, she has good rhythm and activates her lower half well through her swing. She is controlled through the zone and makes solid contact to her pull side. Overall, Devyn is a vocal leader on the field and will do what it takes to play at the next level.
03/31/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Sykesville, MD Devyn is a 2025 right handed catcher and third baseman with a developing skill set. Behind the plate, she has a good drop and block and gets over the top of the ball well. She has a strong arm and quick release on her throws to her target. She keeps her throws on line and frames each pitch well in the zone. At third base, she makes routine plays but needs to work on staying low in her legs to the ball. If she works on staying low, she will create more range for herself at third base. She is smooth in her release and makes strong throws across the diamond. Offensively, she has an athletic set up in the box and a short stride to the ball. She shows solid contact up the middle and displays power potential in her swing. Overall, Devyn hustles hard and has great work ethic.
