12/27/2019 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament (Prospects) Julia Smith is a right-handed pitcher and second baseman with a strong skill set. On the mound, Julia has a calm presence, is athletic, and has controlled mechanics. She is projected to be a command pitcher who battles on the mound and accelerate through her legs. At second base, she starts in an athletic fielding position and has accurate double play feeds. Offensively, Julia has a soft stride to the ball and stays centered in her lower half. Overall, Julia shines on the mound and focuses to maintain her skills.
08/25/2019 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Julia returns to another Softball Factory event displaying her strong skill set and ability to adjust when needed. In the circle, she is calm and confident in her demeanor and strong in her finish. She has good balance and creates tight spin on her screw ball. Defensively, she has active feet and range to both sides. She stays low through each play and has a clean exchange on her throws to her target. She is short in her action to the ball and moves well laterally through each play. Offensively, Julia is tall in her stance and short in her stride. She stays center in her balance and has the ability to spray the ball to all parts of the field. Overall, Julia is very coachable and has great work ethic.
11/08/2018 - Softball Factory Select Training & Competition at Historic Dodgertown (Grad Years 2019-2023) Julia returns for the Softball Factory Select Training & Competition at Historic Dodgertown. Since her last outing, Julia has made strong improvements to her skill set and has improved her tool grades. On the mound, Julia has a calm presence and is consistent in the zone. She creates good spin on the ball and has a good curve ball. Working to get her hips open and keeping her arm circle tight will allow her see more arm speed. In the box, Julia is a RHH that uses a tall stance with an on time stride and fluid rhythm. She is direct to the ball and is able to work the gaps. Letting the ball travel and extending through contact more will allow her to see more power production to all fields. Overall, Julia is an athletic player that will be a contributer at the collegiate level.
08/26/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ Julia is a 2023 right handed pitcher and second baseman with a strong skill set. Defensively, she has range to her backhand side and has a solid prepitch motion. She makes accurate throws to her target and has a quick release. In the circle, she has a confident presence and extends through well on her release. She keeps an open hip direction and has good balance in the circle. She is controlled in her mechanics and shows proper spin on each of her pitches. Offensively, she has a square set up in the box and a soft stride to the ball. She loads back well in her legs and shows the ability to spray the ball to all sides of the field. Overall, Julia hustles hard and is very coachable.
