07/16/2012 - Softball Factory Maryland Select Training Lauren is a young athlete with potential. As a pitcher, her natural build and athleticism compliments her pitch composition. Her square stance, full arm swing, and smooth rhythm contribute to pitch success with the fastball and changeup. Lauren needs to work on body control and individual pitch techniques in regards to her rise and screw ball pitches. At third base, her skill set is basic. She needs to focus on her pre-pitch footwork and glove work on ground balls to eliminate stabbing and choppy rhythm. Lauren needs to become more aware of foot and glove positioning as she receives plays at the bag. At the plate, she has a solid stance that demonstrates balance, consistency, and average bat speed. Though her stride is short and her load is on time, her lower half bails out which forces her hands cast out of the hitting zone. Targeted skill set drills for trouble areas is necessary as she continues to develop as an athlete.
