06/03/2021 - Softball Factory College World Series - Futures Select Training Mariyah is a 2026 2B/OF that attended the College World Series Select Training Event! On defense, Mariyah has a clean exchange and does a good job of getting over the top of the ball and making accurate throws. She has good footwork and moves to the ball well. Something for her to work on is being in a lower defensive position when fielding, and fielding the ball more out in front. Also, it is important that she is aggressive and takes a quicker first step to the ball. Hitting wise, she has a good setup in the box and stays balanced. She hits the ball to all fields and is a spray type of hitter. Something for her to work on is quicker bat speed, and staying inside the ball more. Also, if she can work on driving her lower half and legs more she will be more powerful at the plate. Overall, Mariyah was very coachable and someone our coaching staff would love to work with in the future!
03/01/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Mariyah is a young (2026 grad) L/L who plays 2B & OF. Defensively at 2B, she has active prep and moves well into a square fielding position. She presents her glove and tracks GB's into her mitt. In the OF, she hustles right and left to track down fly-balls. She has athletic actions, a quick transfer and makes accurate throws to her target. With the bat, she displays a square/athletic setup with an aggressive approach. She maintains a quiet/still head and tracks pitches into the zone. Swing is level as she connects and looks to drive the middle of the field. Working to engage her lower 1/2 more will result in increased power. Only a 2026 grad - Mariyah has tools with sill a ton of time to develop.
