12/27/2020 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament - Prospects McKenna is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on her skills during the Christmas Camp & Tournament. Behind the plate, McKenna sits in an athletic stance and tracks the ball into her glove well. Her exchange is clean and she gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws to the 2B bag. She is quick moving to block and centers the ball in the middle of her body. At the plate, this RHH shows an advanced approach through an athletic setup. She is controlled getting into a simple load and is explosive driving her lower half through. She works through a level swing with plus bat speed, leading to loud contact and strong line drives. Overall, McKenna is a talented prospect who will be one to follow as she continues to progress.
12/27/2019 - Softball Factory Christmas Select Training (Futures) McKenna Schab is a 2025 right-handed catcher developed skill set. Offensively, McKenna has a great presence in the box and an athletic setup. She activates her lower half well and has a controlled stride in her pre-pitch approach. She is on time and her barrel is on-plane and fast through the zone. She sees the ball well out of the pitchers hand and has an aggressive mindset to make contact consistently. She battles each at bat and isn’t afraid to attack the first pitch. Behind the plate, McKenna has an athletic and low setup. She has strong mechanics and controlled movements. Her throws are accurate to her target and she keeps everything in front of her when blocking. By keeping her thumb underneath the ball when receiving, it will allow her to work around the ball more when receiving. Overall, McKenna is an athlete who is coachable and works hard
01/18/2019 - 2019 Softball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament McKenna is a 2025 right handed catcher with a developing skill set. Behind the plate, she has an athletic catching position and receives the ball well. She is aggressive and keeps runners from advancing to the next base. She works well with her pitcher and replaces her feet well on her blocks. She is accurate in her throws to bases and displays solid strength behind her throws. Offensively, she has a tall set up in the box and a short stride to the ball. She stays level through the zone and makes hard contact consistently to her pull side. Overall, McKenna has great energy and works hard for her team.
05/12/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Boise, ID McKenna is a 2025 right handed catcher with a strong skill set. Defensively, she has quick feet and a quick exchange on her throws to bases. She stays low and square in her set up and makes accurate throws to her target. She is fluid in her action and has good momentum through each play. She frames the ball well and has strong wrists to stick each pitch. Offensively, she is athletic in her set up and has a square stride to the ball. She loads back well in her legs and stays center in her balance. She has fast hands through the zone and has the ability to spray the ball to both sides of the field. Overall, McKenna has a great attitude and if she continues to work hard she will make a great asset to a collegiate level team in her future.
