01/31/2016 - College PREP - Waleska (Atlanta), GA Payton is a 2018 RHP/OF with a passion for the game. In the box, Payton is a dual offensive threat with ability to hit from the right side and slap. From the right side, Payton dominates the inside pitch. She is a line drive hitter with the ability to hit to all fields. As a slapper, she uses fluid footwork, keeps her hands back, and displays good rhythm. She will benefit from staying on the ball longer. In the OF, Payton gives maximum effort to make plays for her team. She has a quick first step, an aggressive approach, and an understanding of proper angles. She will make strong throws by using her body more in her throws. On the mound, Payton shows her athleticism. She has good balance as she gathers over the rubber, free arm action, proper length on her landing. She uses a five pitch package to challenge hitters with her fast ball being her best. Using more leg drive off of the mound will help Payton generate more velocity in her pitches. Overall, Payton is a talented player with lots of potential. With continued practice and quality coaching, she will see significant improvement in her game.
05/28/2015 - College World Series Select Training Payton is a 2016 RHP who continues to improve. At the plate, Payton has a hitter's mindset. She is a line drive hitter with on time rhythm and the ability to make adjustments. She will see in an increase in power by incorporating more weight transfer into her swing. On the mound, Payton uses a five pitch package to challenge hitter. Her screw ball can be thrown for a strike when needed. Working to get sideways while in motion, will allow Payton to generate additional velocity and power. Overall, Payton is a great kid and with continued work, she could benefit a collegiate program in the future.
01/31/2015 - College PREP - Atlanta, GA Payton is a 2018 RHP with a developing skill set. On the mound, Payton does a good job of keeping her pitches in the strike zone. She has fluid arm action, a soft landing, and tight spin. She uses a four pitch package with her curve ball being her best. By starting her rise ball lower in the zone, the pitch will become more effective. Offensively, Payton uses a square set up with good balance, and an activated load. She does a good job of working up the middle. She will benefit from incorporating more load and weight transfer for additional power. Overall, Payton is a great kid with excellent work ethic that will continue to improve.
