12/27/2014 - Softball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament Riley is a 2016 C/3B with a well-balanced skill set. Behind the plate, Riley is a hard worker and very coachable. She has a strong/confident approach and a working knowledge of the position's fundamentals. Her arm continues to be accurate but she can work on throwing from a stronger arm slot to gain more on her throws. She gets rid of the ball quickly which contributes to her solid pop times. At 3B, Riley is deceivingly quick and gives maximum effort to make plays for her team. Working to add more of a pre pitch to her approach will allow Riley to play thru the ball and not let it get too deep in her stance. Offensively, Riley uses a square stance and maintains centered balance throughout her swing. Adding a load to her swing will help Riley to create a little more bat angle at contact and allow her to see more consistency in her power production. Overall, Riley is a hard worker who is extremely coachable. With continued work on her fundamentals she will continue to see improvements in her game and make a nice addition to a college program.
07/23/2014 - College PREP - Watertown, WI Riley is a talented C with a well balanced skill set. Behind the plate, she has an accurate arm and position awareness. Working on receiving/framing skills and blocking the ball in an athletic position to improve range and efficiency are a couple areas to work on. Overall, Riley has a confident approach as a catcher. As a hitter, she uses a square set up with a short bat path and keeps her balance centered before producing gap to gap contact. She shows good power and will benefit from implementing a more consistent stride and load and driving the hands through the zone to improve power on contact, ultimately allowing her to access the entire field effectively. Overall, Riley has a good frame for the position and solid athletic ability to help aid in her continued development as a player.
