02/16/2020 - College PREP - Lake Zurich (Chicago), IL Sofia is a talented RHP who will throw strikes and compete every time she steps onto the mound. She has good mound presence and shows confidence in all 4 of her pitches, filling up the zone with strikes. She gets her hips through, helping to utilize her lower 1/2 and drive in-line toward the dish. FB ranges from 50-51 mph as she commands it to both sides of the plate. She maintains good wrist action on her screwball as it shows to be her best pitch showing late movement. As a hitter, she displays an open setup with centered balance. Swing is level as she connects and hits the ball where it's pitched, spraying it to all parts of the field. Working to get loaded sooner while engaging her lower 1/2 more throughout the swing will help to increase pop off of the barrel. This 2024 grad has a ton of upside and is one to keep an eye on over the next few years.
