01/28/2018 - College PREP - Phoenix, AZ Vanessa is a 2022 two-way player as a 1B/RHP. In the box, Vanessa is a RHH that uses a square stance with a short stride and centered balance. She makes consistent contact and works opposite field. Generating more bat speed and being on time to contact will allow her to see more power production at the plate. At 1B, Vanessa is vocal player and good target for her INF. She is agile, presents her glove on tome and fields with sure hands. She makes a clean exchange and makes accurate throws. Working on her backhand approach will round out her skill set. On the mound, Vanessa has a calm presence. She uses a 4-pitch package and shows good control. She uses a knuckle change to keep hitters off balance. Working to use the correct stride and being fluid with her release will allow her to see an increase in her velocity. Overall, Vanessa is a young athlete that will continue to improvements to her skill set.
